You've heard about digital assistants, now come find out what they do. APA|A is offering a digital assisting program to give local assistants a view of the world outside the film loading room. What sets a digital assistant apart from a 'regular' assistant? We will discuss the kinds of shoots that involve a digital assistant, learn about the duties of digital assisting, get hands on with gear, see a variety of companion programs, and get to know the digital workflow. The digital assisting program will be divided into 3 parts covering SLRs, medium format, and workflow. Each part will be led by one of Atlanta's premier digital assistants. Be sure to mark your calendars! This is event is not to be missed!

Part 1: Digital SLRs
Led by Jason Fobart, assistant for photographers including Arington & Green, Chris Stanford, Ralph Daniel, Marc Krause, and Johnny Cain. Learn the basics about assisting with digital SLRs. What types of shoots use these and what are your usual duties as a digital assistant.

Part 2: Medium and Large Format
Get hands on with the major players in medium and large format digital. See the difference between 1 shot and 3 shot cameras and their companion programs.

Part 3: Workflow
Led by Justin LaRose whose assisting work is almost entirely digital and includes establishing a digital workflow for several Atlanta photographers. Justin will cover digital workflow from the digital assistants responsibilities and how to work with a photographers pre-established workflow. We will also discuss in more detail the other responsibilities of digital assistants vs other assistants.
