SUCCESS TEAMS
APA's new Success Team program is a member benefit introduced
a few years ago by APA/Atlanta. By joining a Success Team, members
get a hands-on opportunity to reach specific goals by working
in small groups. Teams are formed in groups of six as members
sign up for the program.
Each team meets on a regular basis, with the purpose of helping
each other overcome obstacles to reaching goals. While personal
goals will vary, the topics of interest can include:
- Motivating creativity
- Invoicing/negotiating
- Portfolio/vision development
- Transitioning to digital
- Business problems/ solutions
- Career goals
- Other topics of interest
Mentor Program, available only to Emerging
Photographer Members, teams you up with a Professional Member
from your region, and last for a period of six months. During
this period each Mentor is lead by an established photographers
who meet with them on a monthly basis.
The Success Team program is similar to a graduate program in
which each member must be self-motivated and committed. This is
important not only for achieving one's own goals but for the entire
team effort. There is a one-time signup fee of $225 to cover administration
and training costs. There is no charge for Mentor Program participation;
however, the Mentor Program is available to Emerging Members only.
This program is an APA member benefit and is therefore limited
to APA members only. If you are considering joining APA, this
could be the most important step you can take for your career.
